Renowned British singer, composer, and Sanskritist Gaiea Sanskrit has released her 31st studio album, Celestial Journey, a contemplative 10-track collection weaving ancient Sanskrit mantras with modern soul-stirring melodies and ambient soundscapes.
Recorded at Studio Noah in London, Celestial Journey runs for nearly 1 hour and 35 minutes and is now available on all major streaming platforms. Early listener response has been positive, with the album gaining streams on Spotify and an accompanying series of music videos rolling out on YouTube.
The album brings together respected musicians including Viamarsha on tabla and Jamie Frankel on flute and bass. Together, they create a textured and immersive sound, blending Eastern classical influences with modern spiritual music production.
“Celestial Journey came about organically,” Gaiea shared in a short interview published alongside the release. “As songs began to gather around me—so to speak—I felt it was time to book the studio. It’s like a diary capturing a moment in life and what helped me through it.”
The album title was chosen intuitively, Gaiea explains, to reflect a spiritual ascent through sound as well as an inner journey of healing and transformation. Several tracks carry deeply personal significance for the artist. Songs like Om Tare Tuttare and Respira Tranquila were inspired by her own experiences of navigating life’s challenges. “‘Respira Tranquila’ means ‘breathe and relax’ or ‘breathe and let go’—something I needed to hear myself,” she says.
Another highlight, Damodaraakam, was inspired by an experience at Barcelona University where Dr. Maria Elena, a Sanskrit teacher, shared the piece with her students. “I loved it immediately and knew it belonged on this album,” Gaiea recalls.
With an academic background that includes a degree in Sanskrit from Oxford and a Master’s in Music Theatre, Gaiea Sanskrit’s work continues to bridge the gap between linguistic scholarship and modern musical expression. Having studied Sanskrit since the age of four, she has built a global following through recordings, live performances, workshops, and the Cosmic Choir, her international collective of Sanskrit singers. The Cosmic Choir’s next live performance will take place in Rapallo, Italy on June 28.
Speaking about Sanskrit’s timeless resonance, Gaiea describes it as “the language of the gods,” noting that its ancient vibrations can harmonise both body and mind. “Even after thousands of years, its sound carries timeless wisdom and healing,” she says.
Celestial Journey is streaming now on Spotify, Apple Music, and other major platforms. Official music videos and further visuals will continue to be released on Gaiea’s official YouTube channel in the coming months.
